21 University Hospital Federations (FHU) were created following a call for projects launched in 2019 jointly by Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) and the universities of Ile-de-France with the aim of:
- strengthening the links between the hospitals and the universities,
- identifying priority themes for research, teaching and care,
- diversifying research funding by involving companies closely.
Each selected FHU benefits from the labeling and thefunding of the founding institutions for a period of 5 years, from 2020 to 2024.
In 2012, because of the increasingly competitive international context and the emergence of new health challenges, 16 university hospital departments (DHU) were jointly accredited by AP-HP, Inserm and the universities of Ile-de-France. The 16 departments were evaluated by the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres), which recommended repeating the experience. The name of Federation (Fédération Hospitalo-Universitaire - FHU) was then chosen, which better describes the objective of bringing together clinical and research teams.
In addition to Hépatinov, you will find the list of the twenty other FHUs on the website of the Direction de la Recherche Clinique et de l'Innovation (DRCI) of the AP-HP
